Today, many people are inviting you to believe whatever you want to believe and do whatever you want to do. Yet that road does not lead to lasting peace or genuine hope. Hope must be built upon a foundation of truth. Most religions today claim to offer some kind of hope, but only one offers credible proof to support its promises. There is only one faith where people have accurately foretold specific details about events that occurred hundreds of years later. And these events were supported by many eyewitnesses. This offers us hope.
In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 53, we find a description that was penned some 700 years before the coming Messiah was even on the scene. Seven hundred years later, what had been foretold in the Old Testament book of Isaiah came true and is described by many witnesses in the New Testament. This offers us hope.
The call to follow Christ is an exclusive call. It is a call to follow Him, Jesus the Lord and Savior, King of kings and Lord of lords. He isn’t calling us to follow a religion or to turn over a new leaf in life. He is calling us to a radical transformation that only He can provide for us. Unless we understand this at its very foundation, we will not experience the hope, joy and abundant life that Jesus promised we would have. Rather our lives will be filled with guilt, legalism, religion and frankly, hopelessness.
“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10
Where is your hope? Are you looking solely to Jesus Christ for your salvation? Are you experiencing the joy and hope He promised? Unless your hope is solidly grounded in Jesus Christ and His work on Calvary, you are missing out on the hope He has in store for you.
“Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election,
for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.
For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the
eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:10-11
