My Testimony

The Converse Kids - I'm in the diapers.

I was born into a large Roman Catholic family back in 1960 in Williamsport, PA.

When I was younger in my Christian faith, I often thought of my testimony of my journey to faith in Christ as being pretty typical. But as I have grown in my relationship with Christ over the years and even grown in my understanding of salvation itself, I have to say there is no such thing as a “typical” testimony. God works in His own way in His own time and even uses His own people to bring a lost sinner to salvation in Jesus Christ. I don’t believe God has a template He just applies to everyone the same. Well, in my case, I was born and raised in a good size Roman Catholic family in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. I had 6 brothers and 2 sisters and I was the baby of the whole bunch. My mother had me when she was in her early 40’s and she passed when I was 3 years old from lung cancer. My dad was a medical doctor in radiology and he passed away when I was 7. I was raised by my oldest brother Jim and his wife Patricia. Growing up my mother was Roman Catholic and my dad was Methodist. We always went to the Catholic church as long as I can remember. When I was in middle school I remember going to mass each week,  serving as an alter boy in the church and going to catechism on a regular basis.

As I graduated from high school and entered college, one of my brothers came to faith in Jesus Christ. I remember him telling me his testimony and how I needed to turn my life over to Christ as well. I just remember comparing myself to him as well as my other brothers, who were always known as a rowdy bunch to say the least. I remember thinking to myself, “yea, you need this Jesus in your life, but not me.” Well, God definitely had His hand on me. It wasn’t too long before one of my other brothers began to tell me of his conversion to Christ and what a difference it had made in his life. My heart began to soften to the gospel and after several presentations and being confronted with scripture which showed me my wretched condition, I bowed my heart and life to Jesus Christ and desired to follow and serve Him however He desired….to be continued…
